Authors Bio

Like so many who experienced lock-downs and curfews, I decided to use my time to create children's stories. I now have two books published with a third on the way. 

As I blundered my way through the creation of my first book; Maddy and the Elf-The Greatest Gift of All - inspired by my niece Maddy, who loves Christmas elves, I began an epic journey of my own. Many lessons were learnt along the way, and I continue to learn more and more as I strive to build a portfolio of fun child friendly stories.

My Third book, Bruce the Elf - The Mystery of the Muddy letters, is due to be released later this year 2024. 

Ruth Smyth is a children's book author from Melbourne. Born in West Derby, England. She has a background in graphics and SFX makeup, and has lived in multiple countries including Ireland, Scotland, and now Australia.

Her books "Maddy and the Elf-The best gift of all" and "James and the Elf- An Unexpected Adventure" are known for capturing the imagination of young readers. Ruth loves nothing more than creating adventure stories full of old-world charm and odd characters.
